Hello Doc and thank you for the reply. This is not the answer I wanted to
see, but I guess it's the one I had to see. Of the links that you provided,
the one that caught my eyes unfavorably was the processor life status,
namely, End of life.
So my Win XP Pro is: End of life; my motherboard is: End of life, and now my
processor is: End of life. Additionally, some of the software that ran fine
on XP is now, of course, End of life.
There is only one course of action remaining: get a good rope, make a
hangman's noose, and hang my wallet on a sturdy branch, because after paying
out for all these required upgrades, it too will be at its End of life. Some
Christmas this turned out to be.
Perhaps it's time to go look for a good lap-top. Not that they don't have an
End of life, but if I'm going to have to shell out that much for new items, I
might as well get a new item.
Thanks again for the info doc.
Alfred
